Phone App

suggested this on June 6, 2013, 6:12 PM

I, like many others love to check my dA messages wherever I am and the addition of a native android/iOS app would work wonders, sure you can use the website but uploading is really clunky and a native app would work much better.

Pickley has an app to check your message center on your iPhone, in case you were interested.

But that's only for people who can afford iPhones. Us poor people with androids can't get it.

baronbeandip offers several apps for Android users as a third party developer so go check his page out for them :).

I'd like to use a official dA app. When I enter to Deviantart via Mobile, the site goes too slow. A app would be a nice idea.

I think this is a great idea. A dA app that makes it easy to upload art, and is just overall faster and easier to use than the mobile site!

I, too, would like an official deviantArt app. I don't like any of the mobile apps and using the site on mobile is tedious.

Agree with all comments. why has deivantART not created one before? they should hold a contest / project where deviants create ideas and interfaces for the app, and the best ideas all collaborate to have fully functional OFFICIAL dA APP! allowing deviants to vote on best ideas, and suggest functions would be grand! i know there are plenty of app developers on dA that would love to be apart of such a project! if dA will get an app i will start using the site again!

I agree with all above. The phone version of the site, while it can do the job, is slower, and sometimes things just dont work. Last month my computer broke, so i started using my phone and wifi to get on deviantart. Since monday though, the submit comment on everything except replieshas not been appearing. Notes havent been being sent while im on my phone, and i have to try about fifteen times to upload a picture...
Id love an official app version, like facebook, youtube, and others have. And i know others would probably agree with me.

Because I'm too lazy to use my scanner, I take pictures using my phone, and have to send them on a long rellay in order to get them to my computer. An app that would allow us to upload directly from a phone would be incredibly helpful.

yea i was browsing around looking for an official DA app and it lead me here.. i cant believe theres none yet.. like most of u its really hard for me to submit art through my mobile, im using good ol samsung galaxy duos btw,  its almost impossible to pick a category or mature content option.. i can upload the file alright but i cant complete the submission process.. it would be nice to submit art as easily as when your using laptop/desktop.. so yeah simplify it more in mobile mode please.

I have a Galaxy Note II and when i looked up a dA app on the play store, I was alarmed by the first 3rd part app that popped up. in the comments, someone had said "steals your personal information" and found a lot that said it had bug problems. dA needs to have a legit official app - especially where you can go into chats with people - my phone doesn't support the chat room interface.

I saw a thing a short time ago - they're in progress of working on an app.

I sure as heck hope so @WorldWar-Tori! I've had two photos from my iPod Touch that i tried submitting straight from the device, and the mobile site is buggy as heck. A proper app would work wonders for me, since i might replace my computer with a tablet later this year, depending on circumstances.

I've been traveling and haven had much access to a desktop or laptop computer and have been using my phone to browse. The mobile site is okay but cumbersome. I would love an app to make it easier. I'd be pumped for just a messenger app kind of like what Facebook has. :D

I agree with you all. I uploaded my recent works today via my iPhone and it sure as heck wasn't easy, I managed to get the images up but the descriptions for the images wasn't really at the right place among other things, ended up just getting to a computer to edit the uploads. An app would be awesome, sure hope it's on the way.

An official mobile app would be wonderful as devices that are not androids or I phones have trouble using the mobile site, I am unable to delete notifications from my phone entirely which is really annoying, I have to wait until I get home from all of my errands and work to be able to remove an annoying notification when I'm checking my dva on my phone frequently during the day. This problem really is starting to cause even being on dva to be a chore, I really don't look forward to having to get on my computer every night just to delete notifications that I tried to delete earlier.

"An official mobile app would be wonderful as devices that are not androids or I phones have trouble using the mobile site"

An app is more restrictive from that perspective, meaning when you design an app for droids or apples, it'll only work on droids and apples (and compatible forks). The mobile site is the better theoretical venue, as it depends less on the type of device you have, so long as its browser isn't being a dick to (or simply ignorant of) web standards (which, sadly, is often a problem on the mobile market, probably more than the desktop counterpart).

That being said, I'm not against an app, but I predict that it will not address your problem, Rainseed; consider trying a different browser for your device, first.

I agree. Would love to see them create on. I think holding a contest for it, as stated above, is a great idea!

I would like an iPhone app that would allow for managing your group. Especially so you could really stay on top of your group, for instance my group :iconthe-poetry-cafe: has almost 4,000 members and if I were able to get messages for it on the go and be able to respond to them then and there I could get to know my members a little better then having to set aside time to log in and maybe read over a couple of entries before I have other things I need to do.

Count my vote to add! An official Android app is a no-brainer, considering how many other sites offer apps for accessing their sites, and have for some time now. I'm boggled as to why there isn't already, and that it wouldn't be considered reasonable to add to the lexicon. I want a secure app, not just being able to access the site via mobile browser, which is often sluggish, slow, and impossible to navigate. (Not to mention log into.. ugh.) I for one would check my page much more often, and browse, if I had the ability to do so "on the go", like I do with other social media sites just pushing a button.

I second this, I too would like an offcial DA app. Why aren't there one already? Seriously. DA is going to loose so many people from this site if they're not going to get more attentive of what people want and need of this site..

For those who haven't been keeping up with the news:

They're close to releasing an app, already.

DeviantAPP is completely stupid... I'd have to PAY to upload my work when I can do it for free at my computer.
