The Collections Feature can be found on your Favourites page and allows you to organize your favourites just as you use folders within your gallery. You can access your Favourites at the top of every page, which allows you to drop and drag art right to your collections, from anywhere on DeviantArt. Simply click the 'Favourites' button located at the top-right of DeviantArt to see your collections at any time, and even create new collections right there, without ever leaving the page.
We believe a collection is an art piece in itself, so we've added features to let you Comment on collections! If you're a collection owner, you can add descriptions and custom icons to the collections on your favourites page. Premium members and Senior Members have full CSS control over the whole collection.
To be able to create a Collection you will first need to add some deviations to your favourites. Once you have some favourites simply visit your Favourites page and click on the "New Collection" button near the top of the page. You can also add a Collection by clicking on the 'Favourites' button, located at the top-right of DeviantArt or by hovering over the down arrow next to the "collect" button on a deviation page then using the text field to create a new collection. You can create a maximum of 250 collection folders.
Once you have created a Collection you can begin adding art to it. You can do this while on your favourites page by simply dragging and dropping art to any Collection you have created or hover over a deviation thumbnail in your favourites tab on your profile page and select the edit pencil icon. A menu will open and you can choose to 'copy to' or 'move to' then select the name of the collection you wish it to be added to.
You can also add a piece to a collection while browsing DeviantArt by dragging the deviation towards the top of your screen and then drop it into the collection of your choice within the Collections Bar. You can also click on the "Add to Favourites" drop-down menu while viewing a deviation to add it a specific collections.
You can remove or rename a collection at any time by visiting your Favourites page, hover over the collection folder, click the pencil icon, and then 'Delete this folder...' or 'Rename this folder'.
Once you have created some collections you can add things such as a Custom Icon or description to your collection pages. You can also change the order in which your Collection folders appear on the sidebar and if you are a Core Member or Senior Member you can even have CSS control of your Collection pages.
You can arrange the order of your Collections any way you like by visiting your Favourites page, once there simply drag and drop your collections in the order you wish them to be displayed.
This is done by utilizing the CSS feature. To use CSS you will first need to have a Core Membership to DeviantArt or be a Senior member. If you fall under one of these categories, read on.
To add CSS to your Collection pages you will need to visit the collection you wish to style and click on the 'Collection Options' button and go to the CSS tab in the appearing popup modal. Next you will need to click on the link entitled 'Add CSS'. Clicking this link will drop down the field to enter your CSS code in to. After you're finished adding in your CSS code you will need to click on 'OK' to apply your changes.
Please be advised since CSS is an outside coding source the Help Desk will not be offering CSS support. If you have questions regarding CSS, please feel free to ask them in the Programming Forum.
To add a custom icon you will need to visit a Collection that you have created, once inside click on the 'Collection Options' button and go to the 'Icon' tab where you can add a custom icon. Once under this section click on the 'Change Icon' button. After you have added your Icon you will need to click on 'OK' to save your changes.
To edit a custom icon simply follow the steps above for uploading a new icon.
To remove a custom icon you will need to visit a collection that you have created, once inside click on the 'Collection Options' button and go to the 'Icon' tab where you can remove a custom icon by clicking on the 'Reset Icon' button. After you have removed your Icon you will need to click on 'OK' to save your changes.
To add or edit a description you will need to visit a collection that you have created, once inside click on the 'Collection Options' button where you can add a description under the section entitled 'Display'. After you have added your description you will need to click on 'OK' to save your changes.
